One Day Bioawareness Workshop Government College Women University Faisalabad
One Day Workshop on Biorisk Management was successfully organized by Department of Bio chemistry, Government College Women University , Faisalabad in collaboration with Pakistan Biological Safety Association and Chugtai Healthcare on 30 March, 2022 held at Jinnah Auditorium, GCWUF. About 100 people participated in this workshop from different disciplines including Biochemistry and Chemistry. We have trained the students of BS, Biocehmistry. It was an excellent effort and we received a very positive and enthusiastic feedback from all the participants. They asked for more workshops in future.
The event formally started with the welcome address of Dr Salma Shahid, Incharge, Department of Biochemistry, GCWUF and remarks of Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, Coordinator Science and Technology, GCWUF. Followed by introduction of PBSA, Mr. Zia Ashraf, who motivated the young researchers to become part of it. Then, there was a lecture session delivered by Mr. Zia Ashraf and Dr. Muhammad Usman Qamar on Biological Risk Assessment and Laboratory Acquired Infections, respectively. Afterwards, the participants were split into five groups for parallel practical sessions according to designed Agenda. Practical sessions were delivered by Dr. Akhtar Hameed, Mr. Abdul Waheed, Mr. Awais Ali and Dr. Sadia Aslam. Each session was conducted very well and participants were fully engaged. All the facilitators were serving with full devotion and enthusiasm. The participants were asking questions curiously and participating in volunteer activities actively.
The main purpose of this workshop was to spread awareness among participants regarding their safety and environment safety while working in Laboratory with harmful plant/ animal pathogens keeping in mind concept of Biorisk Management. At the end of the day, certificates of participation and appreciation were distributed among resource person, organizers, facilitators and participants. Overall, this workshop was a significant success in Faisalabad.
